The Ripple Effect Mandala Crochet Pattern

The Ripple Effect Mandala Crochet Pattern is perfect for someone wanting to dip their toes into the Mandala /Doily world of crochet. The stitches and repeats are simple, you will just need to know the back post stitches and where the third loop is on a Half Double Crochet.

Crochet mandala wall hanging

I have a bit of an obsession with hand dyed indie yarn at the moment, and this one is no exception. Ashley from Montana Crochet gifted me this gorgeous Lake Sherburn colourway. It is a fingering weight (3-4ply) superwash merino yarn, otherwise known as Sock yarn, or 4 ply for us Aussies!

I love it when I am designing and the yarn decides what it wants to be and this one was no exception. It spoke to me so clearly and this design came together with ease.

After being a stay at home Mum for 5 years, I have struggled with my sense of purpose and identity. Endless dishes and washing and nappies were leaving me depressed, flat and feeling worthless. Crocheting and designing my own patterns has given me such a feeling of 'Yes, you are doing what you were put on this earth to do'.

But what do you do with all the mandalas?

These mandalas make great doilies for buffets, coffee tables, or hall tables or even turned into cushions. But I find that they look amazing when you mount them onto a hoop and hang them on the wall as art! Especially when you choose beautiful yarn, it deserves to be shown off, not hidden under a vase of flowers.

And trust me you will want to make sure you steam block this baby. It really helps the ripples pop up and the lacey sections open up beautifully.

I also had three wonderful testers go through this pattern and I just love that they all had different yarn choices. Here they are! Aren't they lovely!

Where can you get the pattern?

If you are keen to make yourself a beautiful textured wall hanging, grab the pattern from the Kate Made It Shop here or my Etsy or Ravelry shop.
