My crazy 2 year old, Owen has suddenly developed a weird fear of vacuum cleaners recently. The kid can be entertained for hours dragging the vacuum hose around the house, but suddenly he screams when it is turned on!
So while he would normally play outside with his Daddy while he is cleaning the cars so Mummy can have some alone cleaning the house time while the baby is asleep, lately he won't have a bar of it.
So out comes the mummy cuddles. Cuddles that can cure any illness, protect from any monsters and solve any problems.
I gave him a Mummy cuddle and he stayed put. The kid who doesn't stop running, didn't stop cuddling. He got his teddy bears in on the cuddle, then asked for his blanket and for me to put Buzz on the TV.
The then made us lay down on the couch, him and me, his teddies and his blanket and we watched around 40 minutes of Toy Story before he got up and resumed his mad running routine.
I can't remember the last time he willingly cuddled me for that long without being ill.
And while we were laying there, heads resting against each other, quietly watching Pixars finest, that nagging voice crept into my head. 'Do the dishes, do the washing, sweep the floor, do something while he is still and quiet.'
But I refused to listen to it. So rarely does he let me cuddle him like this, I didn't want to disturb it, even for a photo opportunity!
So I told my brain to shut up. I'm not the only one who can wash the dishes, do the laundry or sweep the floor. But I am the only one he needed at that time.
I am the only person in the world Owen wanted snuggling on the couch with him and his teddies under his blanket to watch Buzz with.
So SHUT UP annoying voice and let me enjoy these moments before he turns into a teenager!!
